How to Dental Care After Getting Braces?

Good dental care is just as vital after you have your braces off as it is when you have them on. Learn how to maintain your teeth and gums after getting braces from the dental clinic in Kanchrapara.

Hard Food

Avoid eating firm foods such as popcorn, ice, boiled sweets, hard crusts, and so on. Those foods have the potential to breach the rules. Before consuming meats, apples, and carrots, for example, cut them up. When wearing a brace, remember to eat wisely.

Coloured Foods

Some foods/drinks will stain the elastics on your braces, so try to avoid any foods/drinks with strong colourings, such as tomato-based foods, curries, coffee, and tea. It's best to avoid these foods/drinks just before your upcoming visit, but dentists at the dental clinic near Kanchrapara can invariably replace your stained elastics with new clear ones.

Soreness

The teeth may be uncomfortable after having braces placed on them for the first 2-4 days. To alleviate this, ibuprofen or paracetamol might be administered. If the pain persists even after eating soft foods, please book an appointment so that any required changes can be performed.

If the inside of the lips or other soft tissue areas is tender, the included wax can be used as a cushion over the braces until the lips adjust. Taking pain relievers before your adjustment sessions might help reduce your irritation.

Jaw Joint

Some people will have popping/clicking or other difficulties with their jaw joint during or after orthodontic treatment. This is quite uncommon. Typically, orthodontic therapy has a favourable effect on the jaw joint. You should realise that pre-existing joint issues can induce popping or clicking following orthodontic treatment, but orthodontic treatment has not been found to cause popping/clicking of the jaw joints.

Cleanings

During your treatment, you will have three hygienist sessions for professional clean and home maintenance guidance. Keep your cleaning appointment! This is not essential, however, it is strongly recommended.

What Kinds of Complications Can Occur After Braces?

Gum recession and jaw difficulties, including temporomandibular joint disorders, are two frequent consequences that emerge when braces are removed. People who have had braces at any age are more likely to experience gum recession, which occurs when the tissue around the teeth wears away or is forced back. TMJ symptoms include clicking of the jaw and difficulties eating.

But such dental issues will not be your concern if you book an appointment with one of the top dentists near Kanchrapara. Make sure you have checked all the reviews and ratings before booking an appointment.
